Applied Potential Effect on ZnFe2O4-Fe2O3 Heterostructure for Generation of Photocurrents under Irradiation

In this study, the performance of ZnFe2O4-Fe2O3 heterostructure was tested for photocurrent generation via photoelectrochemical activity under irradiation. Additionally, effect photoanode on structural, optical properties, and charge kinetic behavior photoelectrode investigated. A combination nanostructures exhibited an enhanced ability light absorption compared to that pristine Fe2O3 ZnFe2O4 samples. For nanostructures, electron–hole transfer resistance 9.41 kΩ achieved in a 0.1 M KOH electrolyte irradiation, which is much lower than values pure nanostructures. The density considerably increased electrolytes irradiation those other samples due greater active sites, electronic band structure, capability photoanode, considerable improvements resistance, limiting current density, exchange Tafel slope. Further, applied potential showed strong significant influence synthesized photoelectrodes. At 0.5 V potential, maximum Thus, photoanodes were established be beneficial stable water splitting.
